ACTIVITIES
We offer a variety of fun and enriching activities for your child. Every day your child will get to choose what they want to do after homework time. In all the activities that we offer, we try to incorporate curriculum standards, to support your child’s educational growth. Cooking: Our daily cooking project is set up to encourage healthy eating habits, as well as promote fundamental cooking skills while having fun. When cooking with the children we incorporate a variety of subject matters including: math, science, vocabulary, health, and nutrition. Art: We offer a daily art project to tap into the children’s creative side. From painting to sculpting, we do it all. Art is a very important aspect in our program, because it stimulates and develops children’s problem solving skills, perception, creativity, fine motor skills, and personal expression. Science: Our science experiments are geared to stimulate critical thinking skills along with curiosity and exploration. All of our projects involve the scientific method, helping children analyze facts to make informed decisions. Outdoor Games and Sports: Physical education is extremely important to keep a healthy body and mind. Here at WGCEDEP, play, sportsmanship, and exercise are a priority. Children have the opportunity to play classic games such as: hockey, flag football, tennis, baseball, soccer, as well as learn a variety of new games. Indoor Games: Our indoor games are designed to have the children working together in a small group setting. Group play activities provide the children with many learning experiences including: conflict resolution, communication, collaboration and much more. Not only are the children learning to work together, but they are having fun too! Performing Arts: Our performing arts activities have children dancing, singing, and acting. These activities are intended to stimulate children’s innate creativity while giving them the opportunity to express themselves through performance. Children will gain a positive self image, as well as confidence as they have fun together. Imagination Playground: We have a 150 piece Imagination Playground set, that is offered to children grades TK-2nd to use as free play. This allows them to benefit from working together and communicating while sharing as well as many STEAM lessons they learn without instruction.
